Five of the best mental health apps

I'm a big advocate on spending less time on your phone to benefit your mental health.

At the same time, I believe there are a lot of apps for your phone that are helpful for a person's mental health. I think if you harness your phone and social media the correct way it can be beneficial to your mental health. With regular breaks, time away from your phone and downloading the right apps.

Headspace

Originally created by a buddhist monk, Headspace is a great app for mindfulness and meditation with millions of users worldwide. Headspace offers guided meditations on both the paid and free version. The paid version also offers a huge variety of specific guided meditations for work stress to bereavement.

I've used Headspace for quite a while now and I find it really has helped when I'm having really bad anxiety or trouble sleeping. It's really easy to use and the guided meditations can be as short as 3 minutes. Even on your busiest day you can find 3 minutes to focus and it really does help.

Headspace is either £49.99 annually or £9.99 monthly and available on the App store.

Daylio

Daylio is self-care bullet journal which can be used to track your mood, daily life and goals. I mostly use it for the mood tracker, as I've mentioned before I think bullet journalling has been hugely beneficial for my mental health. Daylio is just a quicker more on the go way to do so.

I love that you can customise your days to add things like when you exercised, when you drank lots of water or the quality of sleep you had.

They have a paid version for £2.49 a month (£18.99 annually) and a free version which is just as beneficial

You can join confidential conversations with like minded individuals and It also offers various helpful exercises.

Though it is free if you are looking for a private therapist it can connect you to a licensed therapist much like the BACP website would.

I've used Sanvello on/off over the years and it's one I always go back to when I'm need reduce my anxiety or stress. It offers a lot of my favourite things in the free version like meditations, mood and goal tracking and journalling. There is a paid version that unlocks so many great things like full access to guided meditation, all of the CBT tools available and unlimited health tracking.
